Baby Bella

Baby Bella should be out in stores by now, so I have uploaded the three images I made.

I'm not sure if the WIP names I got for my foals are the ones they ended up with in the cards, so if anybody can tell me what their names are on the actual cards I'd be happy. :)

http://gwennafran.deviantart.com/art/Charlie-and-Mandalay-100046346
http://gwennafran.deviantart.com/art/Taffy-100258780
http://gwennafran.deviantart.com/art/Summit-100259195

Internet

Stofa moves fast. I asked for internet Monday and got it Wednesday evening. :)

I'm almost settled in, and now only needs to get two or three moving boxes completely emptied.

I started working at the Industrial Museum yesterday. I share office with their local graphic designer, and started out somewhat soft yesterday. They are all very nice, and I have high hopes that it'll be a good experience. :)

Moving - No Internet

Tomorrow I'll be given the keys to my new apartment, and I'll spend the weekend trying to move half my stuff there. The other half will be left at my parents house, as my new apartment most likely will be a temporary home until I find a real job.

Seeing how I need to get the internet installed before being able to use it, I'll probably be very sporadic at all my normal communities until I get a new web connection.
Danes can find my phone number at my TB profile if they for some reason really need to reach me. And I'll probably check my main e-mail regularly as well. ;)

So... Enjoy your "no Rikke online" time while it lasts. ;)

Signs That the System is Flawed...

I just found a job add that downright threatens applicants to only send serious applications. Otherwise they'll report you to the job center.
You just know the governments fancy new system of "four applications a week" doesn't work, when the coorperations start to react like this. FFS! Now I'm almost scared to apply for that job even though I am qualified. X(

I Got an Unpaid Job. :)

I just talked with my case worker, and she approved the suggestion for "free work" for me at Horsens Industrial Museum. This means that I soon will move to Horsens (unless I get a real job before moving. ;) ). The paperwork is still being handled, but since the important people has approved, it should be a done deal.

The job is really cool and it's a shame it's not a "real" position. Being a "løntilskuds job" in the state it means that I basically get paid what I get for not working now, and still have to search 4 actual jobs a week. While at the same time working 37 hours a week at my new "unpaid job".
But like said, the job is really cool. As the suggestions read now, I am to help develop their homepage further, write different forms of texts and manuals for the museum and teach some of the less technophile employees a bit about computers. If nothing else, these things will really spice up my resume making it easier for me to get an actual paid job. And I really like the museum, it seems like a cool place. :)

If this works it'll be awesome.
I tried searching for a couple of my things, but they are not in the database yet.
MLP Mania

My mother just found my My Little Ponies. They have been missing for years. Yay!

My ponies! Probably some of the most treasured toys I have ever had. I even stored them away from the rest of my toys to keep them safe, resulting in them missing while I could find the other toys (oh, the irony).

My ponies:

My babies:

My rip-off pony that are among the oldest I have. I remember being *very* aware that it was not a real MLP even though I can't have been more than 5 years old. It wasn't nearly as cute as the real ones:

I'm looking into getting them cleaned now. And maybe getting a new tail for the little tailless baby.

BTW. I started playing this MLP rip-off game around a week ago: http://www.ponystars.acclaim.com/referal.jsp?ref=GFP-747238-rikkeloft I think I'm most amused by the fact that Hasbro can't seem to do anything against the rip-offs, as long as they are marketed under other names.

Downgraded to v2

Got so frustrated that I deinstalled Firefox alltogether, and subsequently reinstalled the old version. This was surprisingly painless compared to all the problems I've had with v3. I'd expected it to act up when doing that..

This made all my old bookmarks come back. :D

My dictionaries are still gone, but Outlook Express is working, and I'm hoping a simple reinstallation will do the trick. :)

Remind me not to touch v3 again for at least a month.

Dictionary Problems

Firefox's Danish forum posted a suggested solution: http://forum.mozilladanmark.dk/viewtopic.php?t=4471

I thus deleted TDC digital signatur, and recreated it after the instructions. This allowed me to actually download updates to Firefox.
So now I got the dictionaries under add-ons. But they do not shows under languages. *sigh*

To make matters worse, this recreated my e-mail problem. Now Outlook Express doesn't work. Again. Argh!

I have wasted so many hours on this now. FF3 sucks!

Major Firefox 3 Problems

Argh!

I downloaded Firefox 3, and now the browser won't open. At all... Everytime I try I get an error message, and I can't even send the error report because it won't connect to anything. Eeeekkk...

How do you get the pop-ups at IE to go away? I hate IE. Wah!

Edit: Oooops!

I tried to run it in safe-mode removing everything from add-ons to prefered links. Firefox is working, but how do I get my links back? :(
Dammit. And I even thought about saving them before upgrading, but decided not to because this was super awesome Firefox. I'm so stupid. :(

Edit 2: Today's good news. I do have a bookmark-safety save from when i got a new computer. Two years old, true... But better than starting from scratch.
I highly recommend saving all your bookmarks before choosing to upgrade FF.

Stuff I have lost:
- All my job-related bookmarks. Good news is that I have them all in a Word-document that I'm using more anyway.
- A few of my regularly read webcomics. - I have recovered most of them through memory though. I'm guessing I'm down three or four. One of them has i name I just can't recall. And it's relatively obscure. :(
- A few Danish webcomics. Luckily I created a SmackJeeves profile the other day, and bookmarked all the Danish SmackJeeves webcomics. Only one link needed. :)
- Tons of artist's reference sites. No good news there. All my cool references are gone except one. :(
- Most of Paranoid's bookmarks. I suspect he can create them all from memory, though.
- A lot of unsorted links. I can't remember what it's been, so I'm hoping there wasn't anything important in between.

Komiks.dk

Komiks.dk was really nice.

It was relaxed and calm, with a very diverse set of guests ranging from small children (with geeky parents) to anime cosplayers and mature comic geeks. Obviously it was aimed more at western comic readers than manga-fans, but that's OK. There's plenty of asian-themed cons. :)

I got to see a lot of people which was really cool. Some I've meet already and some I knew from the Internet.

Saturday was mostly interview/lecture day, which was a very warm experience, but still good activities. Para decided to take home Saturday to tend to his pod-cast with Henning and Lupus. Reggae (the kind girl offering floor) took care of me, and took me to a reception at Christiania for a comic exhibition together with a bunch of prominent people from the Danish comic underground. Technically I actually do belong a little to that subculture. I had a manga underground comic (two issues even) printed back around 2000 together with M-chan. I've talked to some of those people online earlier, and some of them as a minimum knew who I were, so I had a great time. Only problem was that I felt really weird and semi-dizzy, so I went to Reggae's apartment around 10 PM (I had her spare key).
The Don Rosa interview was kind of ruined by the fact, that my group had placed ourself at a table besides all the chairs, but the sound only reached the chairs. We moved onto the floor behind the chairs for the last half hour, but kinda lost the first.
The Mezieres and Christin interview was surprisingly cool. These guys have been going for 30 years, and has a lot of funny anecdotes about their early years. And Mezieres called the question I asked him clever. :D
My french comic theory thing probably would have been better in a room with air-conditioning. That was really high level for that heat. Also he could have used another hour and me being in the mood for a university lecture. Unfortunately my brain wasn't really geared for that.
Peter Madsen was - as always - awesome. that guy can make a six-year-old and his 65-year-old "grand ma with no comic interest" entertained at the same lecture. By doing his normal routine. He's just amazingly good at giving lectures about what he does in a language everyone understands. And he always seems so pleasant. :)

Sunday had a lot fewer visitors (Don Rosa really was the main attraction for a lot of people, and he was most prominent Saturday). I had a workshop with Barbucci and Canepa, and stood a lot in line to get a drawing from them (and also the artists doing Valerian). They made a number system in the lines, so you could be in several lines at the same time, and leave them from time to time. That was really nice, as the lines were outside in a courtyard and the sun was pretty bad. Also it gave me time to get food and go comic shopping (I bought a lot of European albums).
Barbucci and Canepa showed up almost an hour late for their signing. And later they were late for their workshop as well. :/ I don't care how hangover they were, that's not the best way to treat your fans standing in the mid-day sun waiting for a signing. I stood in line from 10.35 to 12.00, and from 13.00-14.50. It did get me a nice Barbucci/Canepa drawing and a quicker Mezieres drawing, though. The drawback was, that my Mezieres number came up right after my Barbucci/Canepa sketch with glitter and glue was done, so the two papers in my sketchbook with that drawing glued a bit together. Nothing bad, though. And yes, I said glitter. After Barbucci made the sketch, Canepa would give it a hint of colour with a metal coloured marker, and glitter on top of it. They were using ten minuttes or more at each person, so it took a lot of time.
The Barbera/Canepa workshop was cool. Lot of fanservice, and aimed so everyone could follow while not at the same time being basic "how to draw". The participants ranged from 13-year-olds to actual art-school students, so I can imagine that it was a difficult task (I heard one of the art school students complain a bit later about knowing everything already). Most of the participants were girls, so they must have figured referring to the W.I.T.C.H. girls for most of the workshop would make that part happy. Yay. ;) - And yeah, they were at the least 15 minuttes late, but I spend the time together with girls from Tegnebordet and pencils and paper. That was cool. :)
The "all sci-fi super star question hour" from 12-13 was a bit of a let-down as most the things Mezieres and Christin said had been mentioned the day before, and Canepa spoke french with Thierry Capezone as her interpretator (that grows somewhat boring in the end). That girl is just really bad at English...

I took the trip back to Odense and Para Sunday evening, and got there at 10 PM. We were woken by his phone at 6 AM today, calling him to work, so I left his apartment at 7 AM, and was home around 1 PM... Not lining in Århus any more AND having trains with one hour extra travelling time sucks. I'm still pretty busted, but all in all I had a very nice weekeend. :)

Thanks a lot to all the kind people hanging out with me. You were really what made this con. :D

Komiks.dk Program

Trying to get an overview of what I should be doing at Komiks this weekend. Here's hoping there won't be any major changes.

Saturday:
Sign up for workshop Sunday!
10.00-12.00 - Signings with Sussi Bech and Frank Madsen (Nofret and Kurt Dunder)
11:00-12:00 - Interview: The Don of Duckburg – Don Rosa
11:00-12:30 - Signings from A. Barbucci and B. Canepa (Creators of Sky Doll and partly W.I.T.C.H. - I probably can't make that, but there's better time Sunday)
11.30-12.30: Signing with Juanjo Guarnido (Blacksad. I probably can't make this)
12:00-13.00 - Comic-creators in Space and Time – Meziers and Christin (creaters of Valerian/Linda og Valentin)
14.00-15.00 - Thierry Groensteen (interview/lecture with French comic theory expert)
15.00-16.00 - Peter Madsen and the end of Valhalla (all Danes should know what this lecture is about)
15.50-17.00 - Signing with Pierre Christin og Jean-Claude Mézières (probably can't make that)
16.00-17.00 - Analysing comics… in real-time! (sounds funny)
17.00-18.00 - Henrik Rehr signing (just to say hi. Though he probably only knows my boyfriend)

Maybe quiz-night after that. Depends if the other are up to it and we have a theme. I'm pretty all-round, and Para is good on superhero knowledge. But there's some hardcore geeks present at this convention.

Consciously ignoring: The manga workshops about inking and the lecture about manga with artists whose work I have never read, the Danish workshop with cool people saying "from 10 years and up" and The Superman lecture that sounds cool, but overlaps two other cool things. Saying hi to Ina Kjølbye Korneliussen at her signing,

Sunday:
10:30-12:00 - Signings from A. Barbucci and B. Canepa (Creators of Sky Doll and partly W.I.T.C.H. - I think this one is my best bid)
12.00-13.00 - Is the Science Fiction comic a thing of the past? (All start sci-fi team. I want to make this)
12.00-13.00: Signing with Juanjo Guarnido (Blacksad. Guess I won't get anything from this guy)
13.00-14.00 - Going straight to Hell – Duncan Fegredo (Hellboy artist interview. But I'll probably drop this for signings)
13.00-14.00 - Valhalla All Star Signing according to the signing list.
13.30-15.00 - Signing with Pierre Christin og Jean-Claude Mézières. (Yay, a free slot in my program to get this)
13.00-15.00: Try to catch Don Rosa in his stand for a signing.
15.00-17.00 - Workshop: Superstars from Italy (workshop with Barbucci and Canepa. Remember to sign up first thing Saturday!)
15.00-16.30 - Valhalla All Star Signing! according to program (remember to buy a new album for them to sign if you can make this - doubt it though)
17.15-18.00 - Signing with Barbucci and Canepa. (Straight after their workshop. Last chance)
16.30-18.30 - Charity-auction: Draw the World Together (if I'm up to it)

Ingoring: The workshop of toning manga. I *never* want to work with that. "From "Nick Knatterton" to German Mangaka" - lecture about German comic history that falls at the same time as the sci-fi lecture. :(, Valhalla All Star Signing! (Dammit. I got a workshop I value more)

Question: When am I going to eat?

Penny Arcade + Bella Sara

Ahahaha! Penny Arcade has discovered Bella Sara.

http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2008/05/26/

I wonder how this affected the website traffic of the Bella Sara homepage. It's usually slow as it is, and Penny Arcade is the webcomic that is known to put down otherwise stable servers with one single link (millions of readers can do that. Penny Arcade is bigger than most mainstream paper-comics. They got 10 people hired full time in their staff. At least one of those only working with charity). X)

Moving went well, but I've been busted for the last week. Trying to catch up on job-applications today. I'll make a photo-blog later. ;)

I'll be going to Komiks.dk with my boyfriend next week. So many cool creators are coming including Barbucci. Skydoll love. :D
I'd love to find a place to crash together with Peder from Saturday to Sunday. Any volunteers in the Copenhagen area? *insert puppy-dog eyes*

Moving Time

Is currently packing boxes, and more boxes, as I'll officially move out tomorrow. I got so much stuff...
It sort of surprises me just how many drawings I got. One thing was the stack of old sketch books, but I'd forgotten just how many folders I had filled with drawings as well. Sort of funny to find projects from 2002-2004 in your bookcase. A lot of stuff has been totally forgotten, so I look at it and thinks: I did that?

Anyway, I'll be living with my parents until I find a job I can move after. My parents do have Internet, but their connection isn't super fast. And my own computer will probably be without internet. So until further notice I won't be online as much as I usually am.

Music

After finally realising that my stereo's CD-player is busted (only after living without it for a month) I have embraced Windows Media Player, and is currently copying a bunch of my CDs to the library.
Today's WTF moment... I own a CD with Nirvana that I neither remember buying nor ever hearing. Not that I'm complaining, but... WTF?

Tattoos

This is pretty wild.

Those that has been past my tattoo section on my webcomic will recognise this:

Now look what I just got:

This new girl says that she didn't know the previous tattoos existed, and it would appear that she found me by surfing tattoo pictures running into her doubles. To quote: "I thought it was crazy when I first saw the picture of someone else with them."

I guess the moral of this story is to do research of who has done an illustration you has found online before getting it tattooed on your body. ;) That, and tattoos of my characters are awesome.

I guess I have a lot of pictures going around online without control. That's what happen when you have as generic characters of popular specimens as I do. :/

That's just annoying

I called the office of my apartment half an hour ago, to get info on when I in reality must be out of my apartment.
My official date is June the 1st, but depending on where you live, the actual day can be several weeks before that.

I chose the subdepartment dealing with "money and instances after you have moved" which turned out to be a major mistake. After being on hold for 20 minuttes I hang up... Then I called the office again choosing the "department for renting apartments". I got thought instantly there. Argh! 20 minuttes wasted.

Anyway, I have to be out (and my apartment must be approved as clean) before May the 22nd. Nice to know.

I'm currently attending a "get a job" course. It's pretty cool. :)

Our councillor is using coaching and individual guidance, which basically means that he ask each attendant a lot of questions and takes the time to really listen to their answers. Then he asks more questions, and if people don't start to realise things about themself after that, he start to say what it is he has heard. It sounds silly and way too simple, but it actually works.

As a random side note, none of the six other members showing up today (nor the councillor) had heard of LiveJournal. Most of them didn't seem to be part of any web-communities with journals. Makes me feel more geeky than it should. :P

Art Arrived

I bought two drawings by Faith Erin Hicks a month ago, and today they arrived in the mail. Stupid mail... They had bend the envelope so the drawings was partly bended too. :(
Luckily it's not too bad, and I decided to save them by putting them in frames to "unbend them" and subsequently hang them on my wall (seeing that's where I usually keep the frames. ;) ).
This was somewhat the end of an era. I've had the same original art hanging in those frames since J-popcon 2003. I had sort of figured I'd keep them there till I moved out, seeing how that's only a few months away, but now I got new art on my walls.

My two cool drawings from Faith. You can't really see how bended they are, but if you look at the paper edges, try to notice how it doesn't act like square paper.

Here they are on my wall in frames. The bended parts are nearly invisible like this. :)

The individual drawings. This one is with characters from Demonology 101. One of my favourite webcomics of all time. :D I originally went for this picture from Faiths newest comic, but seeing as I was to slow for that, I wanted D101 art instead.

While waiting to hear if I could get the D101 piece, I also found this on Faith's DA gallery, and asked if I could have that if the D101 piece was snatched before I got it. It turned out that the picture was in fact larger than the DA version. And I ended up buying them both... Whops. ;)
Now I almost *have* to like her newest project by default. I own art with the characters. ;)

Since I was changing the content of the art on my walls, I also ended up putting this in my last frame. It's a kiriban gift from Mio27 which I received last June.

And while we're on the subject, this is what I have hanging in the kitchen. It's a rather large piece by Lykkebianca from Tegnebordet.

Also, to go off topic: Here's my two new pairs of boots. I don't want to talk about the fact that I got those two pairs for less money than I have paid for any of the art pieces on my walls (not counting gifts). They were... Really cheap.
